At Currawong Lakes Game Reserve our aim is to provide the visiting game shot with a high quality experience. We know that a great days shooting isn't just about challenging birds, it's as much about the company, the scenery, the dogs and how well organized the shoot is that makes for a great days shooting.
Our shooting is traditional walked up shooting over trained gundogs in the company of our experienced game keepers. On any one day you will have the opportunity to bag Partridge, Bobwhite Quail and Ringneck Pheasant on over 3000 acres of managed forest grassland and cover crops.
Currawong is a traditional shoot. Our birds are released into the wild as juveniles using tried and proven English and American methods and supported by automatic feeders to ensure the birds are fully feathered, wild and wary by the opening of the season. This is to ensure our birds offer the most sporting of opportunities to the visiting gun.
You will be presented with many challenging birds during your shooting day in a range of settings from Bobwhites flitting at high speed through the trees, to Partridge high and wide on the grassy slopes and pastures or a fully tailed Ringneck pheasant that can show up anywhere and at any time to take you by surprise and test your aim in the best tradition of 'rough shooting'.
We do not impose a bag limit and only offer a set number of shoots in any one season.
All shoots are in the company of our experienced keepers and dog handlers. You will shoot over our fully trained bird dogs. Our dogs are bred from full pedigree stock imported from Britain. A full safety brief is provided prior to each shoot. We can tailor your shoot to suit all levels of fitness and experience.
